Take it out of the tank in some water in a clear dish/glass and get a good picture. It's hard to tell what it is.

Seems large for monti nudi. Have you introduced berghias or got something from someone who has introduced them?

Very had to tell from the photo but it almost looks like a lettuce Nudi - they are very good to have in your tank. If it is a lettuce Nudi and you don't want it - I'll take it. What's the size, color etc - very hard to tell from the photo.

Monti nudis are very small and I doubt you will be able to get a pic of them.
"Juveniles hatch from the eggs at less than 0.25mm and grow quickly to a maximum of about 3mm" That is a maximum size of less than 1/8" ! Also you will not see a monti nudi away from a montipora. That is why I doubt it is a monti nudi Here is this month article on them: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-09/eb/index.php On the other hand a Berghia (Letuce) Monti is a lot larger at about 1/4 to 1/2" in size and will be around the rock and will be good for Aiptasia control but will starve without Aiptasia. http://www.berghia.net/marketprice.html

its probably about 1/8 inch in length and bright bright white. i have a lettuce slug in there and it doesnt look like one of those. i also dont think that its a berghia. i've had those and they just dont look the same.
i didnt put it in there i just happened to see it. does anyone have pics of all the bad nudi so i can try to compare? Last edited by adam82; 09/11/2007 at 07:09 AM. |

Actually lettuce Nudi's are voracious herbivores and will eat different types of algae. That said they are specialized and you can provide them with the algae if your tank is void of it special eating requirements.

That isn't a lettuce nudi (Elysia crispata) - mine are about two inches long.

If it's that small - remove it. Please take a photo for all of us to see. If it is a Monti eater this will be a great education for us all.

it is starting to look like a berghia but there is no aiptasia in my tank. maybe that is why there is no brown on its tips. it could be starving which would also explain why it is out while the lights are one. could be but i dont know.

I had a few infestation of the monti eating nudis and some were quit large but not that large! IMO it is not a monti eating nudi.
Here are the pics from the article that jdieck posted Like jdieck mentioned, 90% fo the time you will not see them venture far off from there host and especially with the lights on.
