I've been using the UCSB water for several years now and have never had any problems with it. I don't check for phosopates though. I also will wait a while after a heavy rain before I go and collect it. I just filled up a 500 G system with it and so far, all seems to be doing fine.

I know that when I switched to the NSW in my 45 reef, my corals started looking a lot better and opening up more. And that was the only thing I changed, from IO to NSW. I have noticed that when I do a W/C with NSW, the corals respond quicker to it than they ever did with and synthetic salt.

Plus I can get 300 G of water for 20 dollars in gas. Try doing that with buying RO at 25 cents a gallon and the cost of the salt.

I found out about that water last week and I am so glad to not have to pay anymore for 20 gallons a week. Now I can waste it all on fish and corals.

Gas fuel is not worth it for me to get "free" water...

if you go and get say 300g it may be worth it. make a day trip out of it and go to the casino

I went for the 1st time Sat. and filled up about 80 gallons. My tank looks great! The only down-side to the UCSB water is how cold it comes out. I have to warm it up almost 20 degrees. Oh well, for 10 dollars in gas... its totally worth it.

Welcome to the free water club Bill. I agree, worth every drop of gas if you can get enough water home.

Going to the MASVC swap tomorrow? I can't make it myself. Maybe next time.

nice dose any one know if you can drive up to it or do you have to keep carrying it back and froth from your car

also can any one give me a bit better directions i am in Lompoc but go to thousand oaks 4 time a mouth so i can stop buy and get the water for FREE hehe thx guys

It's a spigot with a hose. You can drive right up to it. There's a map in the beginning of this thread.

I've been going there for over a year now. I back my truck right up to it and make sure I leave room for other vechiles to get by. haven't had a problem yet, even when getting 300+ gallons of water at one time.

It's real easy to find. Take the UCSB exit from the 101 and head into the campus. Turn left at the light when you get past the security shack that's always empty. Go to the first stop sign and turn right. Look right and you will see a bycycle parking lot and a brick wall w/ a tin roof, that's where the water is. Turn right at the entrance and your there. Sign is on the wall for the water so you can't miss it.

i was wondering about that too why would it not be a good ideal if its filtered i don't see why it would be bad i was thinking about getting some this Thursday but i don't know if i should can any one tell if they know for SURE that it is a bad idea please

Man, I wish there was water available in OC.

I'd just bring a couple 5gal jugs every day to work and drive em home to Fontucky. Looking at the NSW tanks, it appears to me that water is definitely good for corals.
