Books on Coral, marine fish and hardware
Sorry guys... I did search site and tried a few key word searches. However, was not getting what I was looking for. (Not knowing what to ask...).
I am presently have FOWLR. I am interested in learning more about this subject and about keeping Corals along with hardware, etc. I presently do look at the Web forums, but am looking at reading some good books on the train ride to work. Thanks much,

i like Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman ,Reef Invertebrates: An Essential Guide to Selection, Care and Compatibilty
by Anthony Calfo, Robert Fenner, and Marine Fishes by Scott Michael. The The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium vols are supposedly nicely detailed in comparison to some other books out there. One thing to remember is that trickle filters are not so good for reefs when alone. Refugiums and sumps are better suited for reefs- at least that's what many people say and agree to. Of the books I mentioned, some go over some of the mechanical aspects as well.

why waste your money buying books ===>>> ???
all the info you need is either right here on RC or so many other places online - if you need something to take w/ you then print out the articles (((that you are interested in))) or need to learn and read those on the train |

Good question. I've been thinking about getting a book on coral care as a quick reference. The boards here are great, but sometimes a book fits the situation better.

Scott W. Michael has several books on fish/corals that are easy to read and contain great info. They're pocket guides to so it makes them easy to take pretty much anywhere.
I own his Marine Fishes vol.1 and wont go to the lfs without it. Edit: Oh man I almost forgot The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner. I'm not sure how long your train ride is in the morings but this is a great book for newcomers and experts alike.

Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions. PS. When not commuting the Web forums have great info. However, books are great on train. Gets expensive trying to print out stuff. Thanks again,

All good suggestions. A great book that discusses a lot more mechanical/setup/chemistry topics is the last Reef Aquarium Vol. 3 book (Delbeek & Sprung). I can always pick up that book and learn something new. All the books in the series are excellent reference.
