Making homemade smoothies

The hash brown and pancake threads got me thinking. I love smoothies but can't make them. They're always too watery and taste nothing like fruit.

What can I do?

No water at all. Thicken them with plain yogurt. Don't use ice to make it cold, use frozen fruit. I like to make them extra healthy by blending in some nutritional yeast flakes and flax seeds.

Add in a scoop of whey protein isolate, too. Agree with Dwiz - no water. plain no fat yogurt, fresh fruit. If it's too thick, you can thin it a bit with a splash of orange juice or something.

Yep yogurt and frozen fruit is how we do it too, I on the other hand use sugar instead of that healthy crap. Everyone loves them even kids, they don't know the difference. You can use frozen juice too if you want.

This is pretty much the base to my smoothies...
(For a creamier, milky smoothier)
1 Scoop Designer Whey
1C Skim Milk
1C Yogurt ( Strawberry or Vanilla)
Handfull of Frozen Mixed berries / Banana's

(For a Non-Milky smoothie)
1 1/2C Juice ( Normally Mix different juices together)
2C Frozen fruits/berries

May the force be with you!

With this variety of people using yogurt, it can't be bad...

Lark's vomit makes a good alternative if you're out of yogurt.

Don't knock it till you try it. I serve them first, then tell people it's yogurt, and I have no health agendas at all.

If you are going to add anything to a smoothie, add rum.
