Protein powder for sps

Okay this probably sounds really and I mean really far fetched, but I was wondering if anyone has ever dosed protein shake powder in their sps tank. I am considering dosing small amounts of egg white protein shake powder in my sps tank. It is has a ton of amino acids and a lot of protein in it.
I was thinking of trying the egg white kind.
Here is the link to the stuff I would maybe use.

I was thinking the vanilla flavor.
This is not a joke either. I just thought of it as an idea.
Thanks for your comments!
Cheers!

Don't think I would do that in my display tank. I understand your reasoning, but it's a big risk.

I'd probably try skim milk powder - although, I am not 100% how "pure" even that is - before I went with the milk shake. I wonder if sweeteners like Xylitol and Stevia can act as carbon sources for bacteria as well.

Maybe you should just crack an egg and drop that in? hehe :P

Some day I hope to have some test tanks set up to do these kind of weird experiments.

a local has with ok results, some over seas do it as well...i wouldnt suggest it, but if you want to try it at least find a plain unflavored whey or the like. a pure protein isolate may be best e.g. isopure.

and jay robb?!?!

I have considered dosing glutamine - it doesn't have all of the other additives, just the aminos. I have also thought about l-carnitine. It has been proven to increase gestational success in farm livestock by double due to incereased productivity of cell metabolism. Maybe the same goes in corals if they can break it down.

This could become an interesting thread. I've been reading the Italian thread, and I have been dosing pappone. I wonder how my corals will react to this stuff. Hmm...

Okay so last night I dissoved 1/4 teaspoon of Jay Robb's Vanilla flavored eggwhite mix in a small cup of RO/DI water. I put the mixture in the tank an hour after the lights went off. I turned off my skimmer too. The fish immediately came out and went nuts. The corals had much longer polyp extension than normal and well that's about it for now. I will dose another 1/4 teaspoon tonight and see how the tank does.

corals have not demonstrated a utilization of glutamine. there are many studies that have been published showing which aminos corals make and uptake.

again, i'm not sure why you're using "jay robb" brand, especially flavored....i only feel it will cause problems.

human supplements often do not contain what they claim. if you dont believe me take a look at consumer reports analysis of multivitamins, you'll be shocked. i would go with a proven brand of unflavored, natural, pure protein. optimum nutrition, EAS, MetRX, designer whey would be much better choices for this type of experimentation.

My skimmer has been on for 4 hours now and has skimmed just like it normally does. No change. I know there are a lot of coral foods on the market that make your skimmer go nuts.

I have been doing some reading and have found that aspartic acid and glycine have been known to increase calcification rate and metabolism in sps corals.
