you are probably right actually... I have 14 bulbs 2rows of 7 each and I am contemplating taking the 3000 out of my combo too....i bet the procolor would be good thoguh for the oranges like you want.

it it is a neon type color an actinic or blue bulb may make it "pop" but i'm not sure which bulb would be best for that color.

yeah the line that I want to "pop" is neon like orange. I could probably order both the ATI Blue Plus and the UVL Actinic Plus and play around.....let's see what Grim has to say....

Grim let me get this right before i go ahead a purchase another fixture. You recommend ATI 4X54 over the Aquatinics TX5 5x54. Both fixtures will have your lamp config- and with the bulbs they are about the same price. The tank is mix reef 90 gal about 26 in tall.

I have a 430 that's overdriving 3 24" bulbs, but want to reduce it to just doing one or maybe two aquablues and running the actinics + (which always fry too quickly overdriven) normally on another ballast.

What are my choices in ballasts for the T5's? I see Triad, workhorse, Sylvania/Osram and some no name stuff for sale.

thanks
Universal triad, Vossloh Schwabbe, Sylvania, Osram, are the ones I know of.

Blue Plus usually nails orange really good. The combination of 1 actinic to 2 or 3 Blue Plus looks great.

If the Aquactinics was in the budget and you had room over the tank for it that is what I would get. 4 lamp Tek would be 2nd choice.

That explains a lot

I assume Geaux roughly translates into "Can you believe we got into another title game against a team that sucks"

Grim,

I need some new bulbs, and have had great growth and performance from your previous recommendations with all my corals in my mixed reef (from shrooms to clams). For the new bulbs I would like something a little more actinic than what I have now, which to me looks around 10k with all the lights on, but still look pretty natural (maybe like 12k or 14kish), and then have the actinics be as blue as possible. What I'm running now on 2 IceCap 660s is

Front
ATI Aquablue
Blue Plus(ballast 2)
UVL Aquasun
Geissmann True Actinic(ballast 2)
UVL Super Actinic
GE 6500K

Any suggestions on what to try this time?

I recently purchased a 72in. constellation (14 bulbs) and was wondering what bulb combination to purchase.

I'm looking for my corals/fish/clams to really pop with color.

Thanks

Front
ATI blue plus
Uvl Super Actinic(ballast 2)
UVL Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus or Giesemann Actinic Plus(ballast 2)
GE 6500K
ATI Aquablue

I think 1 real actinic is all you need. The blue lamps will give you a lot of pop. Getting the GE lamp away from the back will balance your overall spectrum a lot better too. Also moving the Actinic to the front where its light is striking the viewing side of the corals is going to help a lot.

Who's crying? Just like LSpew my team didn't deserve to be there under the current system. Mountain West Conference went 4-1 so I guess they are the Dominant Conference right?

This year just highlight the fact there needs to be a playoff.

Grim,

I want to change out my UVL super actinic with either a ATI or Geissemann bulb. What do you recommend? This is my setup as of now.

Front
ATI Blue PLus
Geissemann Aquablue
UVL Super Actinic
Geissemann Midday
ATI Blue Plus
Geissemann Aquablue

Is there any other bulb you would change out.

If you want more blue a blue plus, if you want more white another aquablue.

Grimm, I just ordered my nova extreme pro and I want to switch out some bulbs. I don't want to spend a bunch of money right now though. What should I do? I want max growth and nice color, towards the blue end. I am keeping mostly soft corals.....
