Very nice specimine. Mine is my fastest grower(encrusting) so far.

Probably one of the most "curent loving" SPS out there.

Congrats on the new addition. It's going to be an insane coral when it gets bigger!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I really think I could get addicted to the O.R.A. corals. The Chips is my 1st O.R.A. coral. I already want the blue tort, blue Mille and a Scripps pink mille by O.R.A.

I had a hard time deciding on the 1st O.R.A. coral to purchase. I am happy with the Chips as I have always wanted one. Now I need to collect the rest.....

Man if that is an actual identified chips, I gotta wonder what mine is then. Mine has HUGE polyps like that one, but mine grows in more of a table formation and has bright purple tips with lime green polyps.

Here is a picture of the mother colony:

Thx, I got it from a buddy (gqjeff). He calls it a chips acro as well but based on the color, its definitly not the same coral as listed here. I am pretty curious what it actually is if its not a chips.

The picture above is from his tank. Mine is only about 2.5" or so right now. It is definitely one of my Favs. Its a pretty darn fast grower too :P

Whatever it is Horace, that is just SWEET. Maybe different tank conditions bring out a different look in them. Color etc. Maybe yours is a Chips and it has taken on a different look. The original colony you posted a pic of looks to be well established. Is the skeleton of yours green in spots also? It is hard to see with all of the fuzziness. Definitely has green polyps while mine does not. Can others please post some pics of theirs so we can compare the different growth and looks. I would love to see them. Post away !!

Here is a pic of the Chips acro directly from the O.R.A website for a little comparison.

The skeletal structure seems very similar, as well as the amount of polyps, but the polyps are quite different in color....I just dont know

Mine does not have quite as much green in it like the picture above, however my buddy (not Jeff) who also has a frag has a pure neon green skeleton. Mine looks very green under pure VHO actinic, but mainly the green in mine is the polyps. The coral above has a bit more green in it than mine as well, but he also has it under 400w XM20k, where mine is under 250w 14k Phoenix.

I would think thats chips mine looks pretty similar, either way its awsome. I got a second frag of it from a guy who didnt know what he had and called it the "Fuzzy B***h", It look kind of red in his tank and after a month in mine I realized it was actually Chips. Anyways who knows, Ive gotten several corals from other folks thats looked way different in my tank.

You got to keep in mind that to the best of my knowledge the pics on the ORA website are taken under natural sunlight.

Most of the photos on ORAs site are a very poor representations of how the coral would look in our tanks.

My chips is very green at the base and polyps.

Plus Horace considering how clean your tank is I would not be surprised if the brown fell out of it.

I will add that my ORA chips which i KNOW is ORA chips is starting to take on a green body and green polyps...the polyps were that brownish hue so it could be the original ORA that you have Horace...but just because it isnt from ORA doesnt mean it isnt the same exact species in the event its not from ORA. Doesnt really matter is it is awesome.
