Well if you hate the chemistry moles there is always the Mexican sauce "Mole" prepared with dried pepers, peanuts and chocolate (Delicious!).
The Mole, four legged mammal from the family Talpidae that leave underground and cause havoc in your lawn until you smoke them out.
The hateful Mole that usually works spying for the enemy.
That funny Mole character from the South Park series
And then... there is my favorite Mole of them all, that little beauty mark many times well strategically located.

I think it will be difficult to know without a proper analysis.

Well i'll leave that up to the experts.

Its $38 for a 55 gallon bucket. That would be ideal.

Also states that its 100% soda ash.

Keep in mind that A&H says it is 100% sodium carbonate and it turns dirty brown when mixed with water .

only way to really know on any of these is to get a handful of testers and see how it goes over the course of 6 months or so.

well all has been going well with David so I think im going to start using it today .

btw the jug that has 4 cups in it has been sitting on my cold cement floor for a few days . the room temp is 62 and it hasn't started to precipitate at all yet . I will measure the temp of the fluid when I get some time. for those of you who skipped some of the other above posts you use 1.95 cups of ashed soda to make one gallon so this is almost exactly double .

I'm satisfied enough that I'm going to use on the show tank now too...... I'm not getting any unusual precipitation or clumping when adding to the tank as some were concerned about. BUT....... I'm using 1/2 strength of Recipe #1.

I am going to use the 1.95 cups jdieck suggested .

are you cutting it in half because of the 50 ML limit on the litermeter ?

Yes Proline is FCC Food Grade basically same grade as Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and at $15.00 for 4 pounds it might be cheaper and should be as suitable as A&H to prepare formula 2 as is.
In any case, to prepare formula 1 which requires Sodium Carbonate to increase PH you still need to bake it.

Check out chemical site

Hi All
Why not check out tje chemical sites for your supplies?
Here are a few:
sargentwelch.com
sciencekit.com
wardsci.com
By the way I mixed some Na2CO3 WITH Ca(OH)2 and sure enough I got a cloudy snow storm of while CaCO3. And of course the other product is 2NaOH molecules.

Sure, PH is just way too high to keep calcium and carbonate ions in solution.

Don't know if this has been mentioned. I've been unable to find any Dowflake or the like, but did run across these guys in another thread somewhere. I'm going to place an order when my B-ionic runs down.

I buy arm and hammer in four pound boxes for $1.87.

A guy I know got the calcium chloride from aquatic eco, it produced a brown scum, so he didn't want to use it. I don't blame him either. I wonder how their sodium bicarb is ?

If you mix ca(OH)2 with Na2CO3 in solution I would assume you would get a bunch of insoluble CaCo3.

Yes but that is not common kalk powder. Ca(OH)2 is Kalk powder.

I am not really recommending this soda ash to anyone because there are no long term results to point to but it has been two weeks now and all is well.

Unless something happens I think I am done baking baking soda forever. Not only do you not have to bake it but it mixes up with zero effort.

please understand I can not guarantee anything about using this product and make no promises. that said it is what I am using now and fully believe it to be safe or i would not use it.
