well actually I only ran the o3 for a few days. The gh is very humid and the dessicant beads only last a day before having to be regened so I gave up on that. I have been waiting for some news from rk2 on how much a curcuit board for my self regenning o3 unit is gonna cost. until i get that back online the orp is on its own.

Doug,
Have you tried sucking in outside air or air from the house like I mentioned? It may help.

yes Chris Ive tried. It still turns the beads in one day. Ive seen somewhere on here where someone made a box too catch the moisture but dont remember where I saw it. This time of year its a virtual rain forest inside at night. As soon as the days start getting colder I will have to discontinue use of the exaust fans as it will draw too much cold air in. I must have read your post wrong Chris, no I havent tried from inside the house just outside air. Wont the line leading from the house condensate due to the temp differences? Maybe that would be a place for a box like I was talking about to catch the moisture and let dry air pass through.

Yes, If it was long enough and cold enough it might condense. If this is the case, you can use that to your advantage and remove the moisture. Like a distiller Just have to have a small P trap in the bottom so the air doesnt suck up through the drain.
Hmmm. You could make something to throw in the fridge. I was thinking your GH was attached to the house and that you could just poke it through the wall. The outside air does hold less moisture though when its cold, not that its any consolation for you when your still burning one cartridge a day I say build a bigger self heating unit Down burn down the house though Gotta be a way to use the heat from the halides...

Doug,
I've been thinking about your dryer. Get some aluminum tubing and run a coil in your fridge to pass the air through. You need to have air in & out fittings, and a P trap drain on the bottom. DIY refrigerated air dryer Or buy a real one for $200...

what about using a small glass aquarium or box to push down into the water that will break the surface tension so that you can make macro shots through the glass. Great pictures and your level of dedication is inspiring.

Hi Redox!
Your setup is really awesome! Congrats! I was reading your setup and i saw you have some problems with rain water, moisture, etc.'' You have a high moisture content in your GH and the problem seems to be difficult to resolve with low-cost because you live in a country very cold in winter. You need to renew the air to expel moisture but enter cold air in GH. In my garage also had the same problem of high humidity and had to mount in the bathroom a ventilator to send the air to the street through a conduct and new air from outside is forced to go in. At first, i had a weak fan and the humidity remained high. I had to substitute for a far more potent and increase the section's conduct and it seems to me that is resolved the issue for now. I will test the system this winter and going to see if the garage will be very cool or if it will have a acceptable temperature and humidity. Actually the air of my garage is renewed more than 20 times per hour. So far I do not have any moisture but not yet reached the most cold of winter to test the system completely. Let me think about your problem may be i have any idea for you, at low cost. With hi costs i have the solution for you. Using a air conditioning device, you could condense humidity and use the water of dehumidification for top off water and make synthetic salt water. The problem of condensation you can minimize by heating the space but the humidity problem is not solved. About mangroves, if you need any hint may be i help you. Cheers, |

thankyou for the input I would love too show macro shots as they are what I see when I look into the vat . I havent been able too show the true beauty of the corals I have growing. Johny1 thankyou for your kind words and I will try your suggestion.I have a 5gal tank I will try some shots. JC thankyou for the link too Melevsreef ,this is what I need to make for better shots. I will build it when I have a chance, but for now will try johnny1's idea as I already have a 5gal aquarium too try it out. Machado any advice you have for me I will use as you my friend are the real inspiration here. I would love too see your opperation in person. I know you could teach us all a thing or two. As for the mangroves I havent had the time to setup a really good home for them yet. Right now they are just hanging around in various places in my system, just an experiment right now Machado I know that an ERV (energy recovery ventilator) would solve my problems but I dont heat the greenhouse in the winter and I wonder if I would need too heat it if I were too use an erv. looks like i have one more post too hit 1600,wow havent been moved on yet almost a couple of times
