New to corals
Ok, I have had a tank setup for just over a year now. I am getting ready to set upa refugium in my new sump that I am going to be installing in a week, going to let that run for a while then I plan to start adding some coral to my tank. I have a 29gal w/ 35# of LR and 40# LS. Lighting is a 30" Current Orbit. Flow is provided from the Sump by a mag 5 and I have 2 MJ400's thinking of changing these out. For a beginner to caroal what would be a good start.
I have no fish in the tank currently. I have 3 nass snails, a peppermint shrimp, and about 15 or so blue leg hermits.

with that flow and those lights i would start out with some soft corals. xena's, kenya tree, mushroom, mushroom leathers, Zoanthids & paly's. really any of those would do well. i would throw some fish in there to make the water more nutriant rich for these types of corals. i would also upgrade the flow a little. if you are thinking you are ever goin to get into stony corals i would buy bigger power heads if not you could stay small. if you are goin to stay with softies for a while i would go with 2 hydor koralia nano's. if you are going to be getting into the stony corals i would go with 2 hydor koralia #1's. Definitely would want to start with some soft corals as fatrip has stated...all are pretty forgiving. Once you get a good foot in the door as far as corals go, you can upgrade your lighting and get some higher light demanding corals like SPS, etc.
Also since your new to the hobby check out this thread. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...readid=1285725
