RC Site getting Overloaded?

Has anyone else experienced problems sometimes when logging on to RC. I get an error message telling me about the search function when all I am doing is going into different boards. I sometimes cannot access the site. Wondering if it is me or not.

My membership got screwed up and they downgraded me from Premium to registered. Once they got that right, I have not had the problem. Also, you get to search pretty much whenever you want when premium. Yes, pay and you get better service.

I get the same error when trying to get into different boards as well. You don't have to be searching to get it...it's random, sometimes it takes a few tries to get on.

Here is another error that I got... This was after trying to click on a post:

You've encountered an error. While the search engine is frequently the cause of the error, it may not have been your 'click' that caused the error. Ordinarily this error is caused by our search engine because the term entered caused too many results to be returned. If you encoutered this error while searching, you can try doing the search again and changing the term, or including more terms to limit the number of results. Words like "skimmer" or "sand" all by themselves are present in too many posts to make them useful as search terms.

Probably a connection limit on users and the limit is being hit.

I just had the same problem about five minutes ago when I clicked on the post "Great Service/support". And then when I went to post this reply. I had to try replying again. Very busy web site.

It seem to take quite some time to post now also. I've walked away and come back and it's still trying to post. I guess the line gets long sometimes at 9000+ post per day.

I get both errors every day. In the RC forum there is a thread about why it happens and why it's not going to be fixed any time soon.

Do you have a link. I would like to read it. I am curious to know. I've been getting on reef central more and more and constantly get the errors. I just thought that if you become a member that you will not get the errors.

it's a long thread though... probably the most succinct quote from Anemone (moderator):
Quote:
We've upgraded hardware once already this past year, and are looking at upgrading again. Last year at this time we were generally under 2000 concurrent users. Now, we are well over that every day. The last upgrades improved the availability of the search for everyone, and it's only been in the last couple of months that it's really fallen off again.

The system takes constant "tweaking" to keep it running at its maximum capability. The admins here are volunteer staff with their own jobs and their own lives. Doug (Beerguy), our main tweaker (did I just call him that? ) took a couple of weeks vacation this past month and was not here to do the daily performance mods and things slowed down.
