Talking I was in Coral heaven!

I took these pictures during a low tide. Unfortunately, I didn't know I was going to such a heavenly place so I was completely unprepared by not bringing an underwater camera...or diving gears...dang it. Still, I was a happiest boy in a candy store....

Isn't that crazy or what? The pictures were taken when I was on an unschedule business trip to an island named CEBU in the Phillipine.

I was so giggly like a girl that morning that the locals thought I had brain damage...until I mentioned to them how much a thumb-sized acro cost back home and then suddely they want to sell the whole ocean to me.

Nano...the clams pictures were taken at a nearby university's research center on ocean's life. They actually harvested all those "mother" clams in the picture from the shore about 500 meter away and used them to breed tons of babies clams you see in the subsequent pictures. They also breed groupers and crocodiles there too. I would post more pics but afraid I might get in trouble for posting too many...lol.

More pics would be cool....How's the night life there in Cebu? Any cool clubs to hang out? My friend went to Shang-rila and Mactan Island in Cebu... he had some serious fun while down there but "developed" an amnesia when the wifey asked him about his trip...

I am not sure myself although I did asked similar question to the locals and they said they didn't even know people want them let alone commercially collecting them. Not that I encourage collecting wild corals, but don' t you need to have license to import/export them though?

Robert4025: So, they want to sell the whole ocean to you. I bet you are laughing so hard after hearing that? +)

Nice Favia and brain corals on the first few pics (hopefully I named them right). I guess it's common to have polyps growing outside the clams.

It is illegal to collect coral and clams as well as to export coral and clams out of PI. It would take an act of their congress to get such a thing to happen and every attempt in the last 20 years has fallen flat on it's face.

Luzon is a MAJOR collection spot for PI MO fish collectors.

I got to do some diving in Dumaguete City.
It was the most amazing site I have ever been.
I wasn't a reefer then and didn't appriciate the corals and clams the way I would now. Unfortunately, I lost my camera and have no pictures to show.
Thanks for sharing yours.
