Dosing Pump (Aqua-lifter)

What is the best (for the money) dosing pump to use with my auto-top off sysytem for Kalkwsser? I wanted to get the aqua lifter:
http://www.marinedepot.com/ps/ps_Vie...s~vendor~.html
but heard that it will clog.
Are there any other options for less than 50$?

The aqualifter will clog if its pulling Kalk. If its pushing RODI into a kalk reactor, it'll work flawlessly.

I've been using the same aqualifter pumping Kalk for 2.5 years. It has never clogged. Lots of people use them this way with good results.

They do make a little Prefilter thing for the Aqualifter to prevent just such problems. It's pretty cheap, less than $5 ussually.

The prefilter is not needed and would likely cause a problem. If the pump did eventually die. Its a whopping $10 - $12 for a new one.

Great little pump.
I use several. Never had a problem with them.

I use it to pump kalk + ro/di as well. It's cheap enough to buy a couple for backup in case it did clog.

If they start to clog up just run some vinegar through it. that will clean up any deposits.
You can even run two of them in series if you need to pump kalk or top off water higher than the 30" height.
