Calcium deposits, Mag pump & Vinegar

My Mag pump is sounding a little rough. It's been running for about 7 months so I think it's time for a vinegar cleaning. White vinegar, right? Question is, how do you clean the pump? Do you just soak the pump in vinegar or do you have to take it apart? Thanks in advance.

What I've done in the past is fill a 5g bucket with water and pour 2-3cups of vinegar in the water. Put the pump in and turn it on. I usually let it run for a couple of hours and then take it out and rinse it really well.

You don't want to have to strong of a concentration of vinegar as it could damage the seals on the pump.

I've never heard that full strength vinegar can damage pumps. I've been using it full-strength for many years and have never had a problem.

I usually run the pump in vinegar for a few hours, then I take it all apart and clean it with an old toothbrush.
