I have seen people with "sun" burns from exposure to metal halides... I would assume the same could happen with T5s.

I also seem to remember something about someone having some occular (eye) damage (temporary?) from looking into lights for too long.

The amount of UV from flouros and metal halides is extremely low. The exception is DE metal halides. They need a cover glass to block the UV-c from the bulb. Any pendant or MH fitting will have this. That UV will quickly cause burns and eye damage.

Other than that, the only injury you have to worry about with the lighting is purely from the visible light causing blindness if you stare at a bright light for too long....And...Well...If you're that dumb don't ask for any sympathy.

MH and DE are the same thing. For MH you will see two abbreviations, DE and SE. DE means Double End and SE means Single End. The DE's need a glass cover for UV protection, the SE don't need a cover.
