help prop colt coral

well I tryed to make a frag of my colt coral. I took it out of the tank cut the peice I wanted to frag. got a small peice of rock and rubberbanded it to the rock. everything was great till day 4. the band must have cut the colt in half because I found it floating around my tank in more then one peice and the band was still attached to the rock.

any tips on how to keep it attached to the rock with out spliting it?

Thanks Roger

Use onion bags netting or wedding vail material to wrap it with the rock and rubber band the bottom shut...like a bag...it will stick then..

For my colts I take fishing line and a needle and thread/"sew" it to a rock. Once it attaches, I just cut the line and pull it out. Once I started doing that I haven't lost any, and the tissue doesn't get necrotic or anything like they sometimes would from rubberbands. It also doesn't impede any flow or allow for more than normal algae growth

I have a couple that grow really slow too, and another one that grows so fast that I lop its head off 2 or 3 times a year to frag it
