How best to add sand to an established tank?
So whats the best way? I want to add some fine sugar sand to my tank, but I'm afraid to screw up the watter? What is the best way to get this done? I'm looking to add @ 10LB's to my 100 gal.
Thanks Cope |

there are some guys who say to get a peice of clear flexible tubeing and a funnel. then just put the tube where you want the sand and pour away.

Turn off all the pumps, put sand in a big fish net, lower the net to the bottom and dump the sand out slowly. This has worked for me in the past. Works just as well getting sand out.

Thanks, I used the fish net to remove a bunckh of crushed coral. never thought to put it in that way.
I'll try both ways and let you know how it goes! Thanks again Cope

Make sure you rinse very well.
I have always used a large cup, scoop up as much as you can, slowly let water fill the cup up and then slowly dump it out. |
