Thoughts on a skimmer....

Alright..so xmas is coming soon..time to think of what I want for my 65 gal sps tank. Was thinking a calcium reactor but not so sure my hubby is up for that. So was thinking upgrade on my skimmer. Problem I have is space, so looking for some thoughts. Right now i have the super skimmer 65 (not very good i know). The space it's in is proly on 6x9 inches, and not really any room to budge. The only other option for space would be to put it in the area where i have live rock and some plant (ghetto-fuge). Looking to spend in the area of $250-$280. What brand is best bang for the buck?

It's gonna be tough to find a good skimmer that has that small of a footprint. Here is the one i would recommend if you can find space for it. ASM-G3

Go external and get an aquac ev and then just run the mag where the SS was andplumb the skimmer in(not difficult). What size tank? I also love the remora by aquac(for hang on back; could be hang on sump if you wanted). Their spray injection is really very efficient.

I agree w/ cschweitzer, go out of sump. I love my Euro-Reef cs6-3 RC, got a real good deal on Tampa's local forum. It was mesh modded, and recirculating modded for 285.00. It was one of my best scores yet......

I would check out the reef octopus skimmers. Have one on my 55 and love it.

You could try a Tunze. I had a really small area for my skimmer to fit in too. It has a 4 x 6'' foot print and does an awesome job in my 125. I am using the DOC9010.

I had the same problem with a smaller space in my sump without a lot of extra room around to put an external one so i went with a tunze as well. I'm using the same model but its on my 55g. i figured i'd go one size up in case i ever upgrade tanks

Got to go with the Remora or EV for that, see the remoras on the for sale forum every once in a while for around 75 bucks, best skimmers I've ever owned easy to use

for your foot print i would do the tunze 9010

i love euro reef but thier smalles is 9x9 and the sedra 3500 can be a bit loud.

h&s has a small one that is a little expensive.

das-ex1 makes a nice one that is modeled after deltec

havent used any of the aqua ev.
