If you are ever in Little italy ins SF. A place called Mona Lisa's on columbus st is Superb. They cook the food where you can see the chefs with an open kitchen and the ambiance is awesome
about $100 for 2 people with app, entree and a bowl of pasta and drinks

Michaelangelo's downtown is a great little place. It is small, and very quiet, but IMO the food is great. Very good pasta. I have taken my wife there a lot and she really likes it as well.
If you like Tai food Tai Basil downtown is pretty good. I had my first experience with Tai food there and found it was pretty good. La Taquiera Favorita here in South Sac is awesome. They are very clean and have one of the best super burrito's I have ever had. My staff eats there daily since they are a few blocks away from us. |

Ok, its not a true resturant, but my wife and I stopped by this little cupcake store next to fish planet and it was the best little treat I have had in a long time. I had the carrat cake. It is not ricks deset diner or freeport bakery, but it was yummy.
A frag and a cupcake, not a bad day.

One of the major magazines rated Sacramento as the most "diverse" city in the country. I think the food choices confirm that.

Mikuni for California/American style sushi. Hands down the BEST and freshest sushi in town.
Nation wide freezer meats downtown on H for the best cheese burger in town (no joke, but its a little pricey because they use all Harris Ranch beef) Squeeze Inn gets the #2 on burgers (power Inn). Bud's Buffet on 10th for the best roastbeef/pastrami in town (trust me, I eat here 2 times a week and there is always a line out the door) Chicago Fire in Folsom or Downtown for deep dish pizza (destroys Zelda's all day). Paezano's (sp?) is good for Italian. I could name a bunch more because I am always on the quest for the best foods in Sac, but keep in mind most of the places I named do not have the same ambience as Bandera, Ruth's or Morton's, however the food is killer.

If you like Sam's, you HAVE to try Bud's. I am a native here in Sac, and have also been eating at Sam's for as long as I can remember. Its great. But Bud's takes the Hof Brau to a whole new level
