I can't believe only one person responded to the noise level from Aquactinics TX5s, isn't there a bunch of owners out there that can help with this question? Thanks in advance.

It is surprising what a price increase can do to affect opinion polls, reminds me of election time. I'm going to try and help you think outloud here. You prize silence and a quiet setup. I've seen you post how you think the Teklights are so sexy and sleek. Also, what you are planning to keep under T5 lighting is a mixed reef and it will not be an SPS tank. Quit struggling with your decision as no matter what the polls say, you'll be happier with the SLS 6x54w Teklights. You probably actually don't even need 6x bulbs and the 4x bulb unit will do just fine. But for better choice of colors, go with the 6x bulb unit. Also, with the 6x bulb unit, being that 4x bulbs is on one circuit and 2x bulbs on another, you can start off with 4x bulbs first to see if it's enough light for your setup. I think it will be. But if you decide to increase your lighting needs later, you've already got the extra 2x bulbs you can turn on and not have to buy a new lighthood. Hopefully, I've helped you clarify your thinking and what you probably really want.

What are you planning to keep in your tank? If it's not SPS dominated, I think it's a pretty easy decision. The whole point about getting the Aquactinics fixture over a Teklight is the amount of light it puts out, so if this isn't what you need...

I've been using Teklights for over a couple years now and it has worked well for my purposes. I only wish I got the 6-bulb fixture because I'd like more color options.

Mixed reef with LPS, zoos and RBTA. The only SPS will be a monti cap.

I'm definitely staying with individual parabolic reflectors around each bulb rather than a single reflector across all the bulbs like the Novas.

I've never been bothered by the noise level of my TX5. My tank is in my living room.
