inducing star polyp growth?
Just wondering if anyone could tell me how to frag star polyps that are on a mat. Or a method of getting these things to grow fast.

use a razor blade and cut them to what ever size you need. They are very hardy and to get them to grow fast just leave them be they will take off

You want 'em to grow fast? Just put 'em somewhere you don't want them to grow and look out!
And IMO its easier and better for the coral to frag by just lifting up and edge with your finger nail and ripping them apart as opposed to cutting. That way you don't cut through any polyps and they heal faster and therefore grow quicker.

I see grow star polyp very well in the glass. Atach fragments on the glass with superglue (on coralline alge is better). Strong water movement help to grow fast ( zero detritus on the tissue)

IME they grow better with current.

Another method is to put a rock or plug against them and let them grow over..

I just rip the frags off and have never had a problem. My pink star polyps grow very fast I wish they would slow down not speed up. They take off were ever they're located, at least for me they do.
