Mushroom and Crabs?

Hi
I have just bought a couple of small mushrooms on a piece of live rock (last saturday) and this morning I found a small crab (as big as little finger nail) VERY close to them, should I be worried or will the crab ignore them. The crab came in as a hitch hiker on my live rock, it's been in the tank for months, sorry I dont know the species of crab.

Many thanks for any advice.

Most crabs that come in as hitchhiker's are bad.
If you could post a picture of it someone here would definitely ID it for you.
Or if you could possibly explain in detail what it looks like.

Not necessarily true. Emerald crab can be a hitchhiker and they are reef safe.

look up the emerald crab on the web and see if the crab look like it.

Hi
Actually I have about 4 crab hitch hikers, one is definetly a sally light foot but I dont know about the others although one is bright red in colour. All are only about 1cm in diameter. Cant seem to get pic of them, just wondering if they eat corals.

Hhere is a good web site to get info about the inverts.

http://www.liveaquaria.com/

I had a hitchhiker when I first set-up my tank and it was real red in color. I assumed it was an emerald. It got really big and started eating on my leather. I finally caught it and took it to my LFS. They seem to think it was a red crab. Not an emerald. Emeralds do come in green and red colors, but we were not convince that it was a emerald.

Sallies won't bother your corals either. They get aggressive when the get bigger. Watch out for smaller inverts and fish.
