Lighting for watermelon

I have a piece of the Tyree Watermelon coming my way. What lighting produces the best results with this coral? I have other echino's and they all seem to like different light levels.

Any tips???

generally reds and pinks are found in slightly deeper waters. i would start at the bottum of the tank and work my way slowly up the rock work until i was content with its color. all pink and red echinos ive owned have tended to get a little more intense and a little lighter the higher up i put them

You should ask the person you got the frag from where they kept their colony. I would not deviate too far from there.

Very good advice.

The person who gave tyres the WM keeps his about 6" from the bottom of the tank under 400watt 20k XM's. His tank is 24"H. Hope that helps. Send snipersps a pm that is where ST got his from. hopt this helps.

Good news, I am running 20k xm's. I will start it out at the bottom and take it from there.

The echino in my gallery suffered in every place but where it ended up, 6" from the waters surface with intense light.

Thanks for the advice.

Its an odd shape, 54" wide x 36" x 24". That center rock was a real find, its a perfect hourglass shape. Must have been a table top coral that got knocked over and then started growing up from the bottom.
