Acan owners....?
I recently purchased an acan lord about 2 weeks ago with 10 heads. I feed it twice a week, it already appears to be sprouting new heads (wow that was fast). But my question is how fast do you go through mysis shrimp? I only have one acan and it eats almost a half a cube at a shot. Is that too much? I would like more acans but dont want to add mysis shrimp to my weekly fish cost.
Thanks, Paul |

I don't feed mine beyond the little food particles that they pick up that the fish miss from feeding them. Could they grow faster if I fed them? Probably, but I'm not in a race.

I feed mine once a week, so not to foul the water.

feeding that often and that much isnt needed. you will see rapid growth with weekly feeding and adiquate lighting. this way you prevent fouling the water and still get the desired growth rates.

once a week is good.
indo acans grow very fast, the japanese lords exhibit very slow growth, regardless of feeding or light. |

When you spot feed with a turkey baster for example, doesn't the stuff still just float off the tip and away from the coral?

When I feed mine, the corals tentacles grab the food out of the baster and eat it.
