I've got a pic of mine in my gallery, but it looks a bit more ghetto now that I have a food grade rubbermaid housing my octopus skimmer.

 you have the same prob. I do. macro won't grow for me either. and I have tried almost everythng.

Here is the start of my nano sump, I plan on planting mangroves in it. And yes it it a trashcan, with a 10 inch sand bed...

i think it is about 50 gallons, expensive piece of plastic hahah, not sure if i would do it this way again
 It goes into the stand about 6" <----- that way I finally have my rock and sand in the tank now thats why it is so cloudy. Do wish i had more space under there. And i got sand in my 4-way, so i need to rip her apart to clean it out...aarrrgghhhh. |

Here's mine - I started with a 30g tank and some 1/4" acrylic baffles, and a lot of silicone...
  Initially there was a tee in the PVC coming from the overflow, splitting the flow into about 3/4 and 1/4 -- the larger amount of water was directed over the baffles in the back 2/3 of the sump, and the rest went over the divider and into the refugium portion at the front. It's since been redesigned a bit, we just cut a notch in the acrylic that allows some water through to the front and eliminated the extra pipe, and both the back and front are stuffed with chaeto. Works like a charm, and if I want something pretty to look at I can always go back to the original design of sand, rock and higher algaes in the front section (the idea was to have the back functional, with the front 'pretty', but right now it's just full of chaeto).
