Suggestions on a hood...
I just got one of the Current U.S.A. Satellite Dual Daylight/Actinic fixtures which sits about 3 inches above my tank. I also do not have a glass lid on there anymore as to allow more light to shine through. The problem I am having, is the tank is way too bright now, it literally lights up my apartment at school. The manufacture says not to put this ballast under a hood but I beg to differ. Have you guys heard of anyone placing this type of light under a hood? I will build my own if I have to, thats not a problem. Please give me suggestions as to how I can block the light from at least escaping about the tank a little bit. Thanks..

Sorry, I meant to keep the light from escaping ABOVE the tank. Since the ballast sits so high, lots of light is spread out and glows in every direction, I hope this makes sense...

can you push the hood back towards the back of the tank ? Should cut down what escapes the front.

Hmm..I just tried that, and it didn't work. The tank may not be deep enough to make that kinda difference...Thanks for the suggestions? ANy others?
