Is there GREEN coraline algae?
My back wall is almost entirely encrusted with pink and purple algae, however ther are some spots that have green mostly circular growth of algae. The algae is hard and must be scraped off to remove. The texture is very similar to the purple and pink varieties....Is this something to worry about?

There are all kinds of color varieties. Usually the purple/pink will take control but depending on lighting, the green may thrive. I'd wait it out for quite awhile and see, maybe 6 months. If you scrape it off it will actually help it spread. There's nothing wrong with the green variety but I personally don't like it.
A pic would help too just in case it's not what I'm thinking.

Thanks for the input.Cant do pics yet.Purple and pink seem to be winning the battle by at least 90%.I guess I'll just leave it alone.

if its hard and sandy like--its green corraline algae. I wouldn't worry about the back glass of your tank--some aglae growth including nuisance algae is good--it removes phosphates and nitrates from your system and it is good food for snails and urchins(the small ones--the big ones will eat your corraline)

Corraline aglae should be encourgaed to grow on the rocks etc because it competes for real state from other less diserable algae. It is also competing for the nitrates and phosphates from other nuisance algae
