Why do you need 50+ post to sell or trade on this site?

It is the easiest way to assure that the people doing the selling aren't people who came to RC just to sell stuff. In the past certain vendors would sign up as a "normal" member and sell stuff.

RC is about information exchange between its members. Being able sell is a side benefit of being a member. The 50 post limit is the easiest way to make sure that people are returning something to the board and not just using it to sell.

It's also an attempt at some fraud prevention. In years past we had one-hit wonders show up here and post, sell and rip people off and disappear. At least requiring 50 meaningful posts require that people get to know someone at least a little bit.

In my opinon, RC wants people to be part of the board and provide their share to the community, not to show up, join, and sell and leave. Selling is a perk not a main function of the site. In a hard ball kind of way, they can always say just be happy they let you sell at all... It is just that RC wants it memebers to contribute to the coummunity and just not take with out giving. Thats my two cents.
