Inexpensive Skimmer? What!?!?
Looking to get a skimmer for my 50gal and I've always been told you get what you pay for in this area.
Coralife has a skimmer for under $100 for up to a 65gal. Anyone have advice or experience with this brand? Money is tight, but I still don't want to get a skimmer that I will have to replace. That equals more money in the long run. All opinions welcome! |

There is a big thread about it somewhere in this section. I have the css-65 on my 29 gallon and I like it. It pulls out some dark skimate. I would suggest that you at least get the 125 version for your tank.

For the amount of money You want to spend I would also recomend the css125.The 65 would probably be too small.I have the 225 on my 90 and it works great.I thinks its a good skimmer for the money.

When my skimmer bit the dust I found a local reefer that had a Via Aqua skimmer for sell and was very pleasantly suprised by how well it skimmed. When I got a larger tank I bought an ASM G3 but I'm still holding on to the AV for emergency use because I liked it so much. Not sure who has the best prices but here is a link with a pic http://www.aquastealth.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=114

The Octopus 110 is perfect size and price for me, it's the same price as the Coralife 125 but is recommended for tanks up to 150gal. 25 gallons more than the Coralife.
Anyone know why, or care to chime in on this? |

If you want to search the site go to google and in the box type whatever you're searching followed by the website. Here's an example:
"css 125 site:www.reefcentral.com" Hope that helps your searching problem. Dave |

via aqua is a very good skimmer, and coralife css125 is good also. but the octopus NW110, NW150, and best of all NW200. are in another class. and the same price more or less. i can fit two ASM G3 in the NW-200, for less money than the G3.
im keeping my Via aqua also dont no why but for such a small amount of air it pulls it actualy impressive.

Here is the thread I was talking about http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=563298. It has been split a couple of times, so there is a lot to read.
