Why are you selling it, and what skimmer did you use with it?

I had bought it to use with the AO Foaminator 3000, but decided to sell that skimmer and the WC after I changed the setup plans for my 250g and wanted a skimmer setup that would fit under the stand. With everything else under the stand, there will be no room for a waste collector.

Thanks for the answer, it was late last night and I couldn't figure out how it worked. Now I understand it, it wouldn't work on my skimmer as I don't have an air tight lid.

It would still work as a skimmate collector, giving you more time before needing to empty the cup, especially when you're out of town. What would not work is the auto stop funtion. Once the WC was filled, it would not allow any more waste to enter, and it would then start backing up in your skimmers collection cup. Once that filled up as well, any excess would drain back into the tank, just as it does now when your collection cup fills.
On a skimmer with an airtight lid, once the WC is full, it doesn't allow much air to pass through, effectively killing the foam production in the skimmer.

I have my skimmer cup draining into a gallon jug now, but two nights ago my skimmer went nuts and flooded my den

You are right about how it should still work. I was thinking it had to block the air line to the venturi to work correctly.
