Photo shoot in my house

OK so they were not interested in my fish.
They were more interested in my furnature, or at least the lower portion of it.
It was for "Sue London" shoes.
I know the designer who is also the owner of the company and she came to my house with a photographer and model to take there shots which really show off my house beautifully.
Here is my bed
http://www.suelondon.com/pg/alaskangold.html
Isn't it a great looking bed? It is actually a plexiglass platform that I built years ago. It has lights under it.
Oh yeah, there are shoes in the shot.

This is my dining room blinds. With some feet

My fireplace tiles around the hearth. It really brings out the beauty of the fireplace.

These two are my couch. Of course there is a shell under my coffee table.

Now you know exactly what my home looks like.
If you want to see the entire web site it is at.

Ok, maybe it's just me and my computer but those shots were pretty bad.

Your house seems like it has a lot of cool features. But if those were supposed to be shoe ads, well, I think your friend needs a new photographer.

Sorry.

I"m with you VR. If i'm going to be buying shoes I would actually like to SEE what they look like. Call me crazy.
On the other hand-very cool that your house has a portfolio!

Actually those shoes sell for almost $200.00 and since she started the business about 2 years ago, she can't keep up with the orders. They are on the cover of a few magazines and Nicole Kidman wore them in some movie, from then on, forget about it. She makes much more than I do, even with the lousy photography.

Yeah I know, it's all done with smoke and mirrors.
She got this Idea to design high end shoes (actually they look more like slippers to me) and the business really took off.
A lot of it has to do with image. If you see cheap shoes in a catalog, you will actually be able to see the shoes but if you see expensive shoes or even jewelry, it is often obscured like you will take it for granted that the item is worth the money.
You can take a $2.00 slipper and put it in the photos like they took in my house and sell them sor $80.00. And you would have no trouble selling them. I have worked in ad agencies in Manhattan and they can make anything look expensive. Thats why advertising agencies charge so much.
I know with these shoes, she gets the leather from Italy, the stitches from India and the labor from some other obscure place. The shoes travel to three continents to be manufactured.
She even has a line of baby shoes.

This is advertised as Navy, but I certainly can't tell what it is.

the pictures do have a point to them though. Who the heck buys shoes and wears them in the same light they'd see online. If you're wearing dressy shoes, chances are it's a ball of some kind and it's cool to see what they'd actually look like in that situation.

ps, i'd only mention that because i'm attending a ball with my wife tonight and had to listen to a bunch of the (do you think this will look ok garbage)

Actually, it does. I built most of our furniture. That bed is a king size and it is a black plexiglass platform with round corners. There are 4 large drawers built into it filled with guess what? Shoes. There are lights under it. I am an electrician, I put lights on everything. My house is modern, very modern, like the starship Enterprise. My couch as you can see is pink leather but most of my furniture is old now so in a few weeks we will be re modeling. I will be ripping out walls and building some new furniture but the bed is staying.

It is also one reason I still have the same tank for 30 years.
Shoes are expensive. After all, you can't wear the same shoes in the same year can you, just like you can't wear white after Labor Day.

He took over 80 pictures in my house and he is sending me all of them. Maybe I can get some good pictures out of some of them. I want to se the picture of the model on my couch with the entire model in it.

I think that those pictures are pretty neat! Although, it would seem that you have mirrored blinds!

Oh, and thanks Paul, I am trying to avoid shopping! Not find new places to spend money!

Here is the full un-darkened picture of that bed. I had some black plexiglass and we needed a bed. It is raised and lighted underneith.

Just to give you a perspective of those photo shots, here is the furniture as it is without the effects or the model.

you can see in these pictures the couch, the chrome blinds and the dining room chairs. The bed is in the picture with the gold shoes. I think they could have done this photo shoot in Home Depot. All they needed was a carpet and a light.

Here is that shot of the couch from the front
