Cheapest Fish Trap In The World?

So it took me all of 2 minutes and I caught fish..

Here is the trap in thewater with Mysis Shrimp and within 30 seconds I could have caught my Flame Hawk Fish..

Then about 2 minutes later I could have caught my Yellow Tank if the entrance was bigger.

The about 5 minutes later I could have caught the fish I wanted to catch in the first place but instead I want her to get comfortable getting in and out of the trap. The mouth of the trap is a little bigger then I'd like so I have version 2.0 ready with a smaller opening and I figure to catch the damsel really quick.

Yeah the old water bottle with the top cut off and put back on so the opening is in the bottle and presto a 79 cent fish trap.. I guess I am lucky as the fish don't mind it.

I definitely thought that you were never getting that thing out. Good job, that has never worked nearly that well for me.

That's awesome! Good work! I wish I would have known about this method when I first started. I paid $30 for an acrylic fish trap and now it's just collecting dust.

My fishes have never gone near or in any fish trap I have purchase nor made. The above fish trap IMO is the best way to catch a fish. The fish can not escape once caught and you do not have to manually close the trap door. Drop it in and leave.

yep I just used it and caught my 3-stripe damsel last night!!

Could have had my flame hawk, and yellow tang as well had the hole been bigger.

Jon,

You just cut the top off and then flip it around and put it in the bottle so now the small opening is inside the bottle then use a stapler and staple the ends. Here is a link to some ones elses trap that is the same thing.

Good luck

I see that but why doesn't the fish go out the same way he came in?

The fish can get out but not as fast since it has a small hole to make it through

Since the bottle is clear and the opening is narrow it gives you time to lift the bottle out of the water with the fish inside. This is not a trap that you set and forget you should load it with mysis and watch it then pluck it out of the water when you get the right fish in it. All I can say is give it a shot when you need to get a fish out and see what happens. It doesn't work for everyone. But I caught fish within minutes.. Good luck.
