My DIY Stand and Canopy....

Link to my DIY Stand and Canopy thread...

Needs some more sanding and stain and it should be ready for cycling.

A 24" 4x55W Compact Flourescent kit from Hellolights will be installed in the canopy.

Need to complete the sump plumbing.

Thanks. For the stand and canopy, I think it cost me from $50 to $70 in materials. For the tank and other drygoods, I'd rather not tell since the wife also scans this site with me. Let's just say I saved a lot of $$$ building the stand and canopy myself.

You noticed too. I am not too happy with how the canopy door turned out. I am planning on replacing it and install two smaller hinges. That will be later. For now I am too excited to get it going. Hopefully this weekend, I can put in the Southdown, some LS from my other tank and let it cycle for awhile.

Tank is in place

The tank is placed in eat-in kitchen area.
It completed cycling and some small frags were in place. Next week I'll be moving all the livestock from my 75g to this one.

LOL, that's right. I never get to work on it. Well, it works for me right now, why bother?

The tank supposed to be 50g....24x24x24.

Very nice indeed!! Where did you get that top molding from? It looks awesome. Also beware of the tang police with that tang in a 50 gallon. I see no problem with it but they might.

All the materials for the canopy and stand came from Home Depot.
LOL, I'm aware of the tang police but the fish seems to be happy in its new home. If it gets too big in it and starts showing some stress, then it's time for him to go.

Very nice proportions of stand to tank to canopy. Sometimes tall canopies can look very top heavy, but looks very nice. What kind of lighting are using, MH?

Thanks, Jeff.

Currently, I am using 4x55Watt PCs from Hellolights (2 Actinics and 2 10K). I'm thinking if I am going to use MH, I'll have to make the canopy taller to compensate for the heat being generated by MHs.
