Need 3" fan / wiring question

I want to buy 2 x 3" fans for my MH canopy. I want the 120 DC (?) versions so I can plug them into my powerstrip. Preferrably, I want both fans on a single plug. Where can I buy these for cheap? Radio Shack sells them for $2x.xx. Also how can I wire them into a single plug or do I need 2?

I have 2 12v fans on my tank that I got on ebay for 3 dollars w/ shipping included. I connected them to a 12v adaptor that I had lying around the house (the kind you use to power a portable cd player or answering machine), by cutting the ends off both it and the fans, and spliced all the wires together. Most DC adaptors will provide enough power to power 2 fans. I have the power adaptor plugged into the same powerstrip as my lights, so they come on when the timer turns the lights on. It is a very easy diy project, also a lot cheaper if you already have the adaptor. It is still cheaper even if you don't, as the adaptors do not cost that much.

i bought a 12V DC power converter from radio shack that can run ~ 20 fans! haha this was $30. I also go 2 5" fans from radio shack that where $20 each and move 80 cubic feet/hour each. I think put the DC converter onto a timer thats on the timer for my lights... so when the lights are on the fans some on for 30 min every hour. Used to have them on continously but there was too much evaporation. Now my temp stays right @ 78-80* without flux

As far as wiring, i have mine wired in series because the voltage drop should be minimal for the fans. But if you where worried about that i am sure that you could do parallel.

For all you looking for fans, check out case-mod.com. i got mine there for 2.99 and it is a really cool neon blue one, it is much cheaper than getting it anywhere else. it cost me under ten dollars for with day air.

I posted this somewhere before.. but it may be of assistance here.
I have found that www.sescodatasystems.com is a great site for a/c and d/c muffin fans.
from little ones to large.
type "muffin fans" in their search and you will find fans with specs listed as well as cfm delivery.

Hey!
I didn't read your orig post to well I guess....
I am setting up a 60 hex as well.
I opted to go with a 175 mh and lots of pc's to = 360+ watts w/ 2 4" a/c muffin fans.
I almost went w/ a 250w MH so I am interested how it works for you.. just incase i need to modify for some reason.

I just thought it was cool you were working with a 60 hex too.

The 250 MH in the 60 hex seems to work well. The only problem I have is heat now. The tank is running in the mid to high 80's.

My 60 hex isn't set up yet..
It has taken forever to finish stand and canopy.
To much work.. not enough free time.

I built a custom sump out of a 14H tank that just fits in the stand.

So, 250W keeps it in the upper 80's...hmmm
I have an AZOO 240 thermoelectric I plan to use on mine..
when it gets set up.
I am hoping it will keep the tank at 80.
I will post down the road and let you everyone know how it works.
