depends on your placement, it might be enough flow including your return pump

so has anyone rated the full blast mod on a 6025 without the wide flow mod? I read the whole darn thread but only found ratings with both done. of course I mean with the basic mod as well, thats a given.

Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between the newer model 6025 and the older? This one i have does have a metal washer that fits over the impeller shaft. I don't know how else to tell. I did the original mod, and i'm not noticing that much of a difference. Some, but perhaps because the flow is so wide i'm not able to tell that much. I dunno.

I don't know how you can break the pump while doing the mod on the screen. The mods also do not alter how the pump works so if the pump should break it will have nothing to do with the mod on the screen. Additionally, Tunze honors its warranty by replacing bad parts, not the whole pump, so I don't see why you even have to be "dishonest" to begin with.
If you mess up the screen, just buy a new one, there is no way you can claim warranty replacement of that screen even if you try to be dishonest. I hear people justify their choice of not buying the Nanostreams by saying they just don't like to mod the pumps to void the warranty, I think they are just being lazy |

My experiment with my 6055 has come to an end. I had modded mine with an aquaclear magnet driver and a 6200 large prop on my 6055 motor to pump out nearly 3,000 gph. It had been working flawlessly for over two months. In the last week the pump began to vibrate.
I took it apart did not find anything wrong with the pump motor, but the end of the aquaclear magnet driver had significant wear against the 6055 stainless washer in the motor cavity, causing the driver to be very slightly off center and rubbing against the well. It appears the aquaclear driver was not made for such wear and tear. I have since put the stock 6055 prop unit back in and it is running silent again. At least the experiment proved how powerful this little 6055 DC motor is, if only there is an off market magnet driver that can withstand the high force pressed against the washer. With the 3,000 gph 6055 out of question, I will likely go with plan B, which is two 6045s modded with 6055 props and run on a Seio controller. The variable flow will be similar to two stock 6055s on a single Tunze controller, each pump pulsing from 700 gph to 1,500 gph at the same time. Last edited by jacmyoung; 07/01/2007 at 02:24 PM. |

I do not like soft stopper on the 6025 since mine ended up getting the prop stuck, and eventually contributed to the breaking of the shaft, but I can only speak for myself on this one. Again 6045 has no such issue, the hard stopper is built-in. |

Ah, alright. I am running them 24/7, so that is a relief.

did the mod to all 4 om my new 6025s i think that will put me at 4000gph on a 150 with my return bringing me to 4500 so 30x turn over hopefully that will be a start for my sps tank

i have read where seio are higher wattage pumps
being that when it throttles down you are going to have problems with bringing it down to 4 watts

Thanks, jacmyoung. I have a UPS that has a built-in voltage regulator. I'll plug it in to that and see if it works. If not, I'll see if I can find a dedicated voltage regulator.
