Reef Safe Glues

Is Krazy Glue Reef safe? A new neighbor just moved in and works there and said I could have all I want.

So is it safe?

Loctite Gel is what I use. As a general rule, any cyanoacrylate should work, and the thicker the better.

I've been trying to find a bulk quantity of it unsuccessfully (bulk being bigger than the littel mini bottles).

I agree Eric those little bottles do not last long. Granted I can get them for $.99 up here in Mansfield but still.

If you can get as much as you want for free, you should bring a large quantity to a meeting, and they could make raffle items out of it. $25-$50 worth of Crazy Glue gel could make a good raffle item. Especially with the swap coming up...

Well, I just met him today... I would hate to have the 2nd thing ever I said to him, Hey wanna donate a ton of glue to our fish club.

I may be able to get a decent amount; however, I think asking for it in bulk would be in bad taste.

I will see what I can get without seeming like a mooch.

I tried buying the larger bottles in hobby/craft stores. What usually ends up happening is 1/2 way through the bottle the glue gets ruined from the repeated exposure. Or the bottle "goes bad" from being sealed by the glue or the car ends up getting glued to the bottle.

I've used the bSi IC-GEL that Phishy sells and so far the tube is about 1/2 empty is still good. The cap gets stuck sometimes but so far so good. It's costs about 10 male deer ( Thats $10 to you city folk)

Mark,

You should try gluing your frags to plugs, not your car.

That's the real thick gel glue. JustCoral sells their brand over here in Dayton and it works great. You can squeeze a ball of it out on a frag and glue the frag to the rock in your aquarium underwater. I haven't been able to do that with Loctite.
