firefish
I have had two firefish for a little over a year now. About a month ago one has been extremelly aggressive towards the other. Within the last week, the aggression has stopped. Is this a sign of them mating? If so, what should I look for. They are very good hiders, so to look for eggs would be difficult.
Thanks Jason |

Jason-
welcome from the great winter wonderland that is winnipeg mannitoba (my roommate during my Ph.D. was from there, i visited twice, cold beer, and great bowling)-no i live in Houston, its already warm here. As far as your firefish, I can point you to an excellent resource. http://www.breeders-registry.gen.ca....e/NEMDEC01.htm Firefish have been bred in captivity, and aggression is noted in their breeding behavior. Quote from article "Pre-spawning activity: Approximately one hour before lights are off the vent tube the females vent tube becomes visible (~ 3 - 4 mm) and stomach is distended. Male and female stayed in open water, Male become more aggressive, displaying fins in front of female. Depression in substrate prepared. (Same depression used for all three spawns observed)" I highly recommend you read this article and see what you think frank
