O. Scyllarus longevity?

How long does an O. Scyllarus usually live for?

it all depends because the #1 killer is a failed molt. they are also prone to shell disease, which is when the shell starts rotting away. you also have to worry about algae growing on the shell too, preventing it from molting (which will make it die).
otherwise they could live up to 5 years or more.

Mine died last night, but I think it may have been from old age. That is why I wanted to know.
She was full grown I think at a little under 7".

The mantis tank is plumbed into my reef tank, so I don't think water quality was the problem or anything. And I didn't notice any shell disease or algae on the shell.

Thanks. I plan on getting another one this week or the next. I'll miss feeding the big guy.

This time I'll get a smaller, younger one so I can have it around for a while.
