Just painted today
My son must have wanted that $50 for painting the stand. He put a coat of primer on this morning and the last of the ceiling white on in the afternoon. Think I will stop and get some of that washable paint and do another coat over the weekend. Figure there will be a fair amount of spills.
Going to get the tank fitted in this weekend. According to my measurements there is a whole 1/2 inch of clearance on the sides - 1/4 on each side. Going to be a tight fit. For those of you still looking, here is a picture of the painted product. Comments, complaints, advice greatly appreciated. Steve |

Looks great, Steve!
Good paint job, too. But now that bare drywall beckons some paint. I say another $100 for your son should do it! Tom |

I see the support legs which are a good idea but prolly should have flushed them off to the wall so you can add a sump under the tank. That is unless you plan on have a sump off to the side? but Id think placement would be better under rather than to the side. Id prolly have a small refuge to the side fed by a tee'd off drain. Which takes me to my next point, drill a couple of drains in that tanks back wall and install a horizontal style overflow. Do it right the first time and you wont have the head ache later.

The 55 gallon sump is going next to the tank probably to the left. This way I can get to it with ease for maintenance, etc. There will be a refugium section in the sump that will be fed by a teed off drain as you mention.
The other side will eventually have a QT tank and be a work area. |
