Port Jackson Sharks
So, I'd like to start a shark tank. I was thinking Port Jackson, as I've seen them in aquariums and seem fairly interesting (and also look real cool). I know that they are a coldwater species, but what other requirements do they have? Also, I read somewhere that they only grow to about 30", is that correct, and what size tank would a pair of them require?

Well ive seen them get about 5 foot when full grown, at least for the females. Most of the regular care is like any other shark, but as a little bit of info I would just like to inform you that if ou feed your port jackson or horn shark a purple urchin fequently you will notice purple coloration on their "horns"

Heterodontid sharks range in size from the 59 cm long Galapagos Bullhead Shark Heterodontus quoyi, found in the Galapagos Islands and the offshore islands of Peru, to the largest species in the family, the Port Jackson Shark, which can grow to 1.65 m. More commonly, however, the males grow to 75 cm and the females between 80 cm and 95 cm. When they hatch, juvenile Port Jackson Sharks, called pups, are about 25 cm long.

The Port Jackson Shark has two similar-sized dorsal fins. Each fin has a spine at the leading edge, which is reputed to be venomous. The spines of juveniles can be quite sharp, but those of the adults are usually blunt.

Port Jacksons require at least 800 gallons for adaquate swimming...they are not the type of shark that stays still for any period of time they are always moving...but other than that they are GREAT...

If you're even considering getting a shark (of any kind), get Scott Michael's Aquarium Sharks and Rays and read the whole thing first.

I am also interested in obtaining a Port Jackson shark. Anyone know where I can get one? Heard Marine Aquatics had them but the dude wouldn't send any pictures. Has anyone had any experience ordering from Marine Aquatics?
