Magnificent Foxface - What should I feed it?
I always thought Foxfaces were herbivores. At one of the LFS they told me they were omnivores. Anyway, I have a variety of food, but I'm looking for suggestions. The LFS was feeding it a variety of things, including live brine shrimp.
Right now I feed it some marine cuisine and mysis shrimp. It will eat some of it, but not too much. It really likes the Sea Veggies I put up a couple times a day. I was going to pick up som Spirula to add to the diet. What else should I feed it? |

It would be best to offer it plenty of algae and planktonic style foods (nori, live algae, mysis, brine, formula foods, etc.) these fish are more planktivorous than some other rabbitfishes.

There is nothing a rabbitfish won't eat, I swear to you. Mine did in the caulerpa, the red algae, the green algae, three peppermints, a cleaner shrimp, and countless snails, and was trying on the vallonia, except that the bubbles were too big to fit in its mouth. I think they need meat in their diets.

My foxface's favorite food seems to be my homemade chopped up seafood reciepe. He takes piece after piece even if they don't fit in his mouth he will work it around until he can. He also eats mysis and nori with gusto as well.

Mine will eat anything, but it loves marco and valonia. It is the only fish that I have ever had that will mow down valonia.
