Ktar I would like to know the story on that chalice without going into detail. Did your friend buy it online from a vendor or LFS.I think we all want to know the story of the chase.I have been looking for that one chalice that no one has and thats been a dead end road. That is a very sweet chalice.Do you have any pictures when it was a small frag? Thanks for sharing!

all with 20K rads and actinics on.

And this one with actinics off:

Watermelon or Alien Eye? I bought it as a Tyree Alien Eye and it orginally looked that way but now its much more pink (even more so than this pics shows).

texasarrowhead- My friend own a saltwater fish store and the chalice has been sitting in his display tank for like 3 years and i always bother him to sell me a frag and he refuse for three years to frag it. One day i get a phone call and he says hey you want the tiedye chalice or not. i said name your price and he did and i bargain to the price i like and close my eyes and brought it "wife was mad but it was worth every penny". the recession at the lower part of the chalice is due to an acan's sting. hope that sum up the story behind the chalice.

SO when are you planning to frag out. Has the bidding started yet? if I saw a frag at my LFS I would jump at $200 for a 1in frag. Hint

pm him guys or else the mods will close this thread!

Meisen, your blue lava...........when the lights are off, is it reddish still or are the 20k bulbs (I'm guessing 20ks, correct me if I am wrong) accentuating the colors of it? Its nice though!

Thanks Alexpescado!

mikeman,
Yeah thats with 20K radiums going and it definitely looks better under them than in a 10K unsupplemented tank (thats how I found it relatively cheap, just looked so so in a store tank). With room lights, the edge doesnt glow as much as in the pic. The main body is still pretty red and the edge still contrasts with a decent amount. Its definitely become one of my favs!

Some pictures are better than others. I have a new (to me) Rebel XT I'm trying to learn how to use.

These were my uncontested favorites from a little over a year ago. Unfortunately, I lossed them both to infections despite my every attempt to save them

Looks like you have some kind of macro overtaking your chalices? Have you thought about getting tangs to eat it?

Yes I have. Unfortunately, one of the existing fish would have to vacate to make room for the new one. Especially a tang.

That's red hair algae. (Asparagopsis) It's nasty and it will suffocate your corals. I recommend removing the rock affected into a bucket of tank water and scrub. Do not remove it in the tank. You will be sorry.

So what kind of white balance setting are you guys using? I am always trying to not make my sand blue. I use mine @ -.03 and I run 14k pheonix's with 2xT5's actinic+. I would love to see what some of the others are using. Alicia? Bob? Melissa? Others?

Just for refernce. This was taken @ -.07

Mark, does your camera have a custom white balance option? If so, you need to set it by shooting a picture of something white while in the custom WB mode. If not, try shooting in the SHADE mode. What kind of camera do you have?

OK, I see that you are using an Olympus S 770SW. This camera does not have a custom white balance. Look on page 21 of your instruction manual for white balance settings and try adjusting to this:

Cloudy day For shooting under a cloudy sky.
