Join a Reef Club in your area ..... start networking. Also go to
local frag swap (actually the best source IMO)..... Dennis (fish2223) |

went to tons of swaps and never see any. maybe somone already bought them before the swap and just pick them up there. most people i know of in this area dont do the blasto, micro, acan thing. and the few i know that do arent exactly willing to start chopping anything they have. what do you mean try pm's? im a reef fanatic, pay quick with no fuss or stahling, and over exert myself to make sure my corals are as healthy as they can be. youd think thatd be enough. lol. finding interesting frags is harder then all of that imo

The corals you are looking for are not the types you find down at a lfs, even out here in socal. You will be hard pressed to find them outside of the net in most areas, but a little shipping never hurt anyone
PM's are private messages, like if you see someone with something you like, you send them a pm and ask about frags. Just don't ask in general threads because it's against the rules and the mods really crack down on that. |

yeah i have seen one blasto colony (which i bought) ever in a lfs around me. never an acan or micro of course. i dont mind shipping at all. its the finding a site with somthing interesting is the trouble.

already heard back from him. he says acans are real hard for him to get because of permits and such but he gets blastos from time to time. thanks for the tip on the blastos. man i hate this sudden acan fad. so many people want them because they are the thing to have and make it impossable for somone like me who appreciate the coral for what it is, to get ahold of one. kinda a shame but i guess theres some good in there somwhere for the hobby.

Dusty, RMW has a few polyps, but they price them according to the trends, so 3 polyps are going to be a ton and we cant cut it down without losing something. urg, it sucks. hopefully we get an echinata in tuesday though, I hope! lemmie know what you find, im down withan "investment" .

I was mesmerized by acans and micros before the fad and back when everyone thought that lords were blastos and micro amaks were favia. They are sought after because they are what they are. Hardy, colorful, and heck of a lot of fun to feed. Many hobbyists now have acans ready to frag or trade, so if you are truly a reef fanatic, you wouldn't have any troubles getting one. Use your resources, it's all here. |

blastomussaman. wasnt talkin about fans of acans. i was talkin about people who are seeing they are the thing to have, and getting them for the purpose of showing it off and saying look what i have. acans have never been abundent in my area. and before the huge fad started i rarely saw them or even heard about them. all though i drooled over them i knew they would be next to impossible to actually get my hands on. now that they are poppin up like crazy its alot easier to picture getting ahold of some.

xdusty, acans and micros are naturally rare, therefore, naturally, you won't get to see them much.
But because of the fad, you will have the opportunity to own one. More and more hobbyists are farming acans and micros so the more farming, the less chopping. They are awesome corals, you don't have to pay thousands, just pm another hobbyist and maybe they'll sell you for cheap (I dunno who tho, don't ask). The fun part of collecting is going through the process and finally getting it. Once you get one, you can show it off to us! Good luck searching! |
