Our poor frogspawn!
We upgraded to a 90 gal, but before we could do so, we had trouble with our 30 gal. OUr pH dumped, never to come back up and our Euphylia dominated tank was attacked by brown jelly, we lost EVERYTHING but one frogspawn. It's been looking poor, it hasnt extended in weeks, but somehow its splitting, each head has 2 mouths now. Anyone know if it will ever recover and extend again or is it just dying a slow death?? Params are great, any suggestions??

Any pics? Any tissue lost?
It probably had 2 mouths before, no reason it will split when it's not well. If the 2 mouths are from a tear, that's a bad sign. Keep good flow on it and suck out any brown jelly that occurs. Brown jelly is contagious so be quick on the siphon. |

Its not receding tissue at all and this piece only had 2 heads on it, so the new mouths were obvious when they grew. This would be our first frogspawn to split, does it take some time to extend fully when they do? It otherwise looks fine, but its just not as extended as it used to be.

I need a pic here. My frogspawn split from 1 head to 4 but always extended. They need to extend for food capture and photosynthesis. If it hasn't extended in weeks, something is wrong.
Get us a pic and we can help you more. |
