Anyone DIY the KZ skimmer??

The KZ skimmer seems simple enough, anyone attempt to DIY it? They seem to work QUITE well.

With what is the question? Erlenmeyer flasks come to mind, but then what is the largest size made? http://www.labsafety.com/store/Lab_S..._Burets/35751/

I dont think the cone is needed to make it work well, although I do think that is a good design. I think so long as it has a good cone on the top of the skimmer, it should still perform quite well. My question was more related to somone building a skimmer to use the beckett injector in the same fashion, with an internal pump.

As soon as I am able to find someone to make me my giant cone, I will be doing a KZ style skimmer using a mesh moded laguna maxflo-2400. It will be recirculation and very low water flow rate, I would like to see less than 2 tank volume turnovers per day.

After many hours of thought and rough modeling, the cone shape skimmer body is the best for stable bubble migration to the neck. It should also stay clean longer assuming that the lower area is able to keep turbulance minimized with the use of proper bubble plate and return designs.

From the view of an unbiased fluid dynamics engineer, the KZ skimmer is the most optimal design I've seen.
