First Spawn

I have a question, my clowns spawned for the first time 3 nights ago, I noticed the egg clutch was small (maybe 30 to 40 eggs). The second day the clutch was noticeably smaller and today that are all but gone accept a few(maybe 5 to 10 eggs). Is this normal or does it indicate something else like a nutritional need?

Thanks

First spawn is always one of the most difficult ones for the parents. Normally, breeders just let the first two or three spawns go.

Are the parents A. ocellaris?

Temps? Lights? Diet?

I would up the lights to 14-16 hours, add greens (spirulina) and PE mysis to their diet.

I am sure your clowns will do better with the next batch.

Post a close-up picture of the next nest, if you can.

Good luck.

If the nest is disappearing after the first day or two, then that's not normal and the parents are probably the culprit. If this is their first spawn, I wouldn't worry about it too much....they'll hopefully settle down with practice.
