it is probably about 8" around or so. Looks very simalar to a Leng Sy, has the white polyps, nice nodal growth, and a 3/4" wide purple rim. It is under XM 10K 250W and VHO Actinics. Going to get some Reeflux 10Ks though, see how it does there. Got it from a LFS, didn't have much of a purple rim, but I knew exactly what the potential was for it. Went back the next day and got it on my lunch break before it dissapeared, althought it for some reason had been in there for 3 weeks at that point from what the owner told me. One of my favorites. The purple rim is starting to continue all the way around now, and has grown a fair bit from when I last took pictures of it. As you know, yes I am going for the name change....why haven't you changed it yet?

No water yet!
Well, my stand got bumped and didn't get sprayed today, so I will get it on Monday now. I guess it gives me time to finish cleaning the tank and getting all the plumbing parts. Pierce, when are you or Cindy coming to town?

That's the way my wife was with our first baby. Then the second one comes along and you can't run away fast enough.
That's what fish tanks and RC is for!

Yes, black silicone. This has to be one of the cleanest looking tanks I have seen.
Unfortunately, It doesn't have water in it yet!

I love black silicone as well, I have a 30 oceanic cube at work (LFS) that I love how clean it looks with the black silicone. My next tank will have black silicone for sure!

Pierce, Chuck is right. Start taking your kid out now or you'll never get out.
As for my tank, some progress is being made. I picked up my stand today from the Linex shop, man I like it! Here are a few pictures before it got dark. The truck can give you an idea on how big it is. A couple of close-ups...

looking good.
Ben at coral oasis said i should be getting my tank in about 2-3weeks. Steve at socal said my sump will be ready in about 3 weeks too. I'm excited. Can you show me your progress in plumbing so i can maybe pick up a couple things before it's too late? |

Ken,
The linex came out great, I think more people will be going with your great idea!!! Brent |

John, I've been studying plumbing for a few months now and figured out one thing, it all means nothing for "your" tank! I know that I am using 45° and 90° sweeps instead of hard 45° and 90° so that I don't loose as much to head pressure. Just plan on spending $$. I looked at every site I could to compare prices, and still had to use 4 vendors. I'll take some pictures of all the parts before installation and of the whole thing when its done.
Brent, it's not as inexpensive as powder coating, but I'm really glad I did it this way. I think it will really shine in five years when it still looks the way it does now.

Ted, where did you get all of your plumbing, or did Dave get it all?
I ended up getting my valves from Savko, bulkheads from Custom Aquatics, a hard to find bulkhead and check valve from Marine Depot, all my 45° and 90° fittings from McMaster Carr, flex hose from a friend (Putawaywet) and hard pipe from Lowes.

Nothing exciting today, just the first box of pipe fittings, all sweeps, no hard turns.

If I had to do it again, I'd get it all from Dave (Harrington) because returning stuff to the wholesaler was a headache. See you Saturday day? Ted

Nice looking stand. How do you plan to attach fascia panels to it?

Pierce, my thoughts are that it will be free standing. Three sides will just slide into place as one unit.
Check out Gabriel's in this thread about half way down.

Ken make a free standing frame around the frame and then have detachable panels or doors....

Good idea Chuck. There are plenty of ways it can be done, as long as removal for maintenance is easy. I really haven't given it a lot of thought as the rest of the project is overwhelming at the moment.

Ken, question about your tank. Does the eurobracing end at the overflow? I have the same leemar 225, only with a corner overflow, and they ended the bracing at the overflow, the rear pane has all kinds of issues because of it. 1/2" glass?
You can just see in the right rear corner how the bracing ends Good thing it is Starfire, my only true regret. Gotta love the 30" width. CAReefer

CAReefer, yes the eurobracing stops at the overflow and it's all 1/2 glass. Mine is a center overflow. What kind of issues are you having?
