Can a sps tank handle temps of 100 degrees??

nope

A mixed tank sps dominated cant handle 94 degrees either. Well.....all except for the digitatas anyway. They lived.

First pic is of the 90....2nd pic is of what i pulled out of the 225 so far.

Happy fifth of july I did not have.

Somebody checking up on the house on Monday shut of the AC. I got home on Thursday.

Chillers on both tanks but they couldnt handle it.

amazingly enough the only confirmed fish death was a trigger out of the 90. A few MIA's in the 225..but im still hopeful. A scribbled rabbit and a tomini survived the 100 in the little tank.

They SHUT OFF the AC? And they had permission from whom to mess with your appliances? They thought it best to play with the settings on your epuipment? I would be asking for some compensation.

um......yeah. It wasnt an employee or somebody I hired unfortunately or I WOULD have their you know what. It was family.

How they actually did it is a mystery.

Regardless. I should have taken some extra precautions that in hindsight i didnt take. I paid dearly for it.

The losses that hurt the worst as you collect them to throw them out arent the ones with the most expensive title, or the biggest, but they are the ones that you dont remember where you got them, and dont know if you will ever have the opportunity to ever get them again.

If anybody feels they are a talented acro identifier, I would LOVE a PM. Ill send you some pics of a few that arent large or famous.......i actually have no idea what they are but i would like to find them again. I dont seem to get very many responses posting in the sps idnetification forum when i have tried.

Chris or Kris from Reefermadness.us will help you identify them. Email them or find the thread on RC about SPS identifications.

wowowowowwow!!!! sorry for your loss!! i thought my 86 temp was high! good luck restarting...i believe it is booker t washington said it best.........I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed.

sorry to hear your loss,

a few years ago a friend loss everything, when he left to Florida, family drop by to check the house, and saw the ac on, though my friend was careless for leaving it on, so they shut it down, not realizing the unit was on a timer

chillers are nice, but if they are not plum and place on the outside of the house, if they are in the same room they can only do so much, pumping

pumping heat to the room, heat back to the tank, and before you know it, its not doing much,

again sorry for your loss, and hope you don't leave the hobby,

sam

Thanks everyone.

Update. the lone survivor out of the 90 at the moment is a 2.5" tomini tang. All clams that i thought had a chance didnt make it through the night nor did the siganus doliatus.

also lost some clams out of the 225 along with all the digitata that i thought looked ok.

So the only survivors at this point in the 225 are a chevron, a pink spotted watchman, clown and his large condi, another small tomini. Mandarin, LMB and six line are still MIA and im assuming dead. There are a dozen other sps corals that arent toast yet but im not holding my breath. a few hundred heads of candy cane and zoas all will pull through

I think im going to find a temporary home for the few remaining specimens and make a couple changes to each system that bug me. Nothing major as I spent a lot of time designing both, but a few tweaks here and there that cant be done when running.

Then will get up and do it again of course.

Man, really sorry for your losses! I was out of town once and my mom did the same thing... accidently unplugged my pumps and heater and lights... came home and the tank was at like 55deg... fortunatly no losses though. Now, I am really careful who watches the tank, and I pay them.... so I can go ape on them if they mess up! GL.
