Question Scooter Blenny and Mandarin Compatibility

Can a Male Scooter Blenny be in the same tank as a male Mandarin Dragonet in a 46 Gal. Tank? Will they live peacefully? Do they have to be different genders?

No they cannot be. They both are Dragonets and will starve to death.

I think they will live peacefully. But a 46g is way to small to have both. If you have both they will almost definitely starve to death. Your tank also has only been setup for 5 months. I wouldn't recommend either at this point until your tank matures a little longer. How many pounds of live rock do you currently have in this tank? And do you have a refuge?

I agree that they will live peacefully but you may want to check on pods...46 is a bit small but hey you never know...I would add a lot of pods before even trying one of them...

You definitely cannot have both in that tank because of it's size. They will consume your pod population, regardless of tank age, and starve.

Typically for a Dragonet you want 50G WV and 100LBs of Live Rock (per fish). Because they are both Dragonets you should be looking at something around 100G to host them both. You could of course continually stock the tank with new bought copepods to keep them alive, but this is costly.

As for temperament, they will get along fine because they are of a different species. Even Spotted and Psyc mandarins will get along fine
