ASM G3 W/ Sedra 9000 pump??

I currently have a ASM G3 on my display tank. The G3 is equipped with a Sedra 5000. I just built a new skimmer and was looking at purchasing a new pump for it. I was looking and thought about upgrading the Sedra 5000 to a 9000 on the G3 and using the 5000 on my new skimmer.

Has anyone upgraded the pump and had problems with it being to much power?

I would look at the aquamedic oceanrunner 3700, its a great pump and uses less electricity than the sedra 9000
